Jeff McKinney, FNP

Nurse practitioner

Jeff McKinney is a nurse practitioner in the Liver Disease and Liver Transplant Clinic. He manages the care of general hepatology and pre-liver transplant patients, with a focus on patients with viral hepatitis C, including those with HIV.

McKinney also has worked as a nurse practitioner managing patients with hepatitis B and liver cancer. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, he worked as a nurse in the liver, kidney and pancreas transplant programs at UCSF Medical Center.

His research focuses on the treatment of hepatitis C.

McKinney earned an undergraduate degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University and completed a master's degree as a family nurse practitioner, with a minor in HIV, at the UCSF School of Nursing. He also has a master's degree in international relations and pacific studies from the University of California, San Diego.

He is board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the California Association for Nurse Practitioners.
