Jennifer Perkins, MD

Oral maxillofacial surgeon

Jennifer Perkins performs surgery on patients who have diseases or issues with their teeth, jaw and nearby tissues. She also performs dental implant surgery and bone grafts. Perkins is an assistant professor and the director of predoctoral dental education in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the UCSF School of Dentistry. She runs several educational programs centered on simulation and standardized patient evaluation for dental school students at the Kanbar Center, where she gives formal lectures and provides small group teaching and hands-on clinical instruction in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Perkins earned her dental degree at UC Los Angeles and her medical degree at UC Davis. She completed a general surgery internship at UCSF, where she also completed her residency in oral and maxillofacial Surgery. She is a member of the Curriculum Steering Committee for the UCSF School of Dentistry and has an interest in curriculum development. As a scholar in the 2015-16 Teaching Scholars Program, she is pursuing advanced training to augment my teaching skills and utilize educational theory and scholarship as a basis for curricular change.
