Laura Kirk is a physician assistant in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery who provides urgent and routine care for children and adults with ear, nose, throat, head and neck problems. She has particular interests in sudden hearing loss, newborn feeding difficulties, unusual presentations of migraine, and complementary and alternative medicine for head and neck disorders. She has contributed to research in herbal therapies, health disparities in management of pediatric sleep breathing disorders and labyrinthitis ossificans, an inflammation of the inner ear.
Kirk earned a bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and a master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Arcadia University in Philadelphia. She has worked in orthopedic surgery, interventional radiology and otolaryngology. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She also received advanced medical leadership training in medical relief work overseas and led a medical team to Lima, Peru. She is proficient in Spanish. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery; American Academy of Physician Assistants; Bay Area Physician Assistants; and California Academy of Physician Assistants. She a member of the UCSF Advanced Health Practitioners Advisory Group and involved in promoting the role of physician assistants at UCSF.
