Melisa Lee Ling Wong, MAS, MD


Dr. Melisa L. Wong is a thoracic oncologist who treats patients with lung and other thoracic cancers, or those that affect the middle spine. Wong has a particular interest in caring for older adults with cancer. Her goal is to provide personalized care based on the values and goals of her patients.

Wong's research focuses on understanding and improving patient-centered outcomes in older adults with cancer. Her research team studies the impact of lung cancer treatment on patients' ability to function and quality of life.

Wong completed her medical degree and a residency in internal medicine at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF. She also completed advanced training as a fellow in aging research in UCSF's geriatrics division. She earned her master's degree in clinical research from the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Wong is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Cancer and Aging Research Group, Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, International Society of Geriatric Oncology, International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and American Geriatrics Society. She is an assistant clinical professor at UCSF.
