Nimaljeet (Nimi) Tarango is a nurse practitioner in the Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension clinics, specializing in cardiology and geriatrics. Her primary interests are in care of chronic cardiac conditions, including heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and heart transplant. In addition, Tarango has been involved in research studying pulmonary hypertension; echo cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT); heart failure and cognitive impairment.
Tarango earned a nursing degree at San Francisco State University and a graduate degree in nursing at UCSF. She is a member of numerous professional societies, including the California Association for Nurse Practitioners; American College of Cardiology; American Association of Heart Failure Nurses; Heart Failure Society of America; Pulmonary Hypertension Association; American Geriatric Society and the National Geriatric Nurses Association. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the UCSF Excellence in Cardiovascular Nursing Award; UCSF PRIDE Award; UCSF Medical Center Preceptor of the Year Award and the U.S. Air Force Spirit of Nursing Leadership Award. She is an assistant clinical professor in the UCSF School of Nursing.
