About me

Dr. Anne Thorson is a cardiologist and co-director of the UCSF Center for Prevention of Heart and Vascular Disease at Mission Bay. She is also the supervising physician for the noninvasive cardiac stress testing laboratory, which evaluates patients for heart disease. An expert in women's heart health, she specializes in assessing and treating cardiovascular disease in women.

Thorson is interested in early diagnosis and treatment of patients at risk for heart and vascular disease. She also studies noninvasive imaging technologies to diagnose and monitor heart conditions.

Thorson earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at California Pacific Medical Center.

Prior to joining UCSF in 1999, Thorson was in private practice for 10 years. She has also been director of California Pacific Medical Center's cardiac rehabilitation services and medical director for the Health Champions program to promote wellness among San Francisco schoolchildren.
