About me

Accepting new patients

Dr. Ana Malinow is a primary care pediatrician with a special interest in community health and access to health care.

Malinow has conducted research on the barriers patients face in getting to doctors' appointments. In her previous practice, she mapped where patients who missed appointments lived and held focus groups in those areas. Using this information, she helped develop pop-up clinics at family support centers close to the homes of these patients in an effort to increase access to care.

Malinow earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and completed her residency in pediatrics at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. She also earned a master's degree in health policy and management at Carnegie Mellon University. She has practiced pediatrics in Cleveland, Houston and Pittsburgh.

Before joining UCSF, Malinow spent almost three decades working with immigrant, undocumented, refugee and other underserved populations. She has been a guest speaker on health reform as well as featured on national and international television and radio programs. Her interests include health care policy, activism, mapping of health care delivery, improving access to health care and increasing community involvement.

Malinow belongs to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Academic Societies and Physicians for a National Health Program.

Malinow has lived in South America, Europe and Africa. In her free time, she enjoys cooking vegan food, exploring, swimming, and spending time with family and friends.
