Anushree Agarwal

MD

Cardiologist
Dedicated to care and research for adults with heart disease

Dr. Anushree Agarwal is a cardiologist who specializes in noninvasive cardiology and adult congenital heart disease, including taking care of women with heart disease during their childbearing period. Additionally, she closely collaborates with her colleagues in pediatric cardiology to help young patients transition from pediatric to adult care.

In her work with patients, Agarwal's interests include using three-dimensional echocardiography – or ultrasound – to diagnose and manage heart disease, as well as to guide procedures that treat congenital heart conditions.

Agarwal's research interests include echocardiography, pregnancy and heart disease, and adult congenital heart disease. She also studies how to reduce deaths from heart disease and incidence of the disease in certain populations, as well as how to help patients with heart disease improve their quality of life. Recently she has been using new methods for analyzing huge or complex stores of data to better understand the health care needs of heart disease patients, especially those born with heart defects.

Agarwal earned her medical degree from the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She then completed a fellowship in cardiology at Aurora Health Care, which is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She also completed a fellowship in adult congenital cardiology at UCSF.

Agarwal is a member of the American Heart Association, which honored her with a Women in Cardiology Trainee Award for Excellence in 2014. In addition, the American Heart Association and Children's Heart Foundation together awarded Agarwal for her work to elucidate health care utilization and costs for adult patients with congenital heart disease. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Adult Congenital Heart Association and International Society for Adult Congenital Heart Disease.
