Dr. Nakakura is my hero. [name redacted]

By the time I had my appointment I had researched the UCS website and others and most of my questions were answered. I realized that there was a lot of information that was not discussed with me including the seriousness of the effect o the tumor on the arteries and veins.

I found the visit short. I wished the doctor could have provided more information and educated (not assuming that the patient is well-versed on the subject) the patient so that he could make a better informed decision.

Since it was a video call the doctor spent time explaining my options. I liked him alot

Dr Nakakura is really one of the most outstanding doctor and surgeon I have met as a cancer patient in particular. (The other doctor I also like is Dr. [name redacted] also from UCSF.) They really care about me as a patient a person and a father in a family. Dr Nakakura always explains things clearly not in a rush and carefully. He is interested in what I have to say how I feel let me express my views and ask questions. He does not rush to judgement and make wise decisions. Having stayed in UCSF after a surgery for a couple of days I want to add that the residents who are working with Dr. Nakakira (e.g. [names redacted] and others) are truly outstanding. Every morning they dropped by. They observed listened and assessed. Very professional. At a human level I enjoy talking to them expressing my feelings and wishes to them as a patient and as someone who just had a surgery. These doctors and future doctors are really very well trained; they work together as a model group. I have hope for all future patients. UCSF you really made the right choices of who to take as residents (and professors). They are a diverse group who are all outstanding in different ways. And they helped me in different ways. (Some made medical decisions. Some chatted with me and made me feel better. Some did medical tasks for me like removing staples. They all did different things but most important of all I felt they care and I could talk to them. They listened.)

Great experience from parking valet through to doctor. Machine check in reminded me of airport but already done online. Person simply handed me a badge and did not ask for my local scans as requested online. Dr. N saved my life.

I brought scans for Dr. Nakakura to see and nurse uploaded them over an hour before I saw him - but they did not load properly and he could not see them and therefore provide a full explanation of recommendations

Dr. Nakakura is a superb clinician in every way. I am lucky to have him as my surgeon/ongoing medical consultant.

I was disappointed that the surgeon did not come see me after the surgery at all. Other doctors came doctors I didn't know. I would've appreciated a visit in the hospital at least the day after surgery. At UCSF there's a big disconnect between patient and personal physician. Every morning I had new doctors coming in and spending maybe a minute to a minute and a half with me and that was all. I was having severe complications and wished my doctor had come talk to me. Instead the nurses did the best job they could to reassure me.

Dr. Eric Nakakura is professional and personable. He took time in his questioning of me and most important he took time to discuss all aspects of my condition. I could not have asked for anyone better.

Dr. Nakakura and his PA were both excellent.

Please ignore this if it comes up later in the survey: Getting my questions answered during the visit was excellent. Getting answers to followup questions (even 3 minutes after the visit) has been difficult.

All of the staff membersincluding the doctor we're top-flight. It was just the long wait to see the doctor that was distressing. I was not feeling well in considerable pain the chairs in the waiting area are not comfortable and we were looking at a two hour or more commute home during rush hour. more space needs to be allotted to the doctor to see patients to avoid these kinds of needless delays.
