Dr. Joelle Gabet is a rehabilitation specialist who cares for patients with neck and back pain. She has particular expertise in improving function and decreasing pain in patients with spinal disorders. She is also interested in neuromuscular medicine, neurorehabilitation (therapies to restore or improve function in patients with nervous system diseases or injuries), spasticity (a disorder in which people have tight muscles that they can't control) and the medical needs of amputees. To detect injuries, she performs electromyography, studies that provide information on the health of muscles and their nerve cells by measuring muscular response to electrical signals.
Gabet's research endeavors have included studying risk factors for osteoporosis in adults with cerebral palsy; administrative work focused on coding improvements for inpatient rehabilitation care; and studying patients with spinal cord injuries related to metastatic cancer, in order to evaluate their outcomes following rehabilitative therapies.
Gabet earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Gabet is a New Jersey native.
