About me

Dr. Keluo Yao is a cytopathologist, a specialist in diagnosis based on the microscopic examination of cells. In addition to working in the laboratory, he provides rapid on-site assessment of tissue biopsies, palpation (examination with the hands) and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (using a needle to extract a sample for biopsy).

Yao's research focuses on developing and applying computer software and artificial intelligence in pathology.

Yao earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and fellowships in cytopathology and informatics (information science) at the University of Michigan hospitals. He belongs to the American Society of Cytopathology and Association for Pathology Informatics.
