Nicholas Frost

About me

Dr. Nicholas Frost is a neurologist and neuroscientist who cares for patients with complex neurological disorders, whether developmental or acquired (caused by a medical event, such as a stroke). He is passionate about understanding the biological mechanisms underlying the disorders affecting his patients.

Frost earned his medical degree and a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed a residency in neurology at UCSF.

Frost's research focuses on the ways that molecular and cellular changes affect the brain's processing of information during cognitive tasks. He is particularly interested in how neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or acquired injuries such as stroke affect communication within the brain and impact a person's behavior. He uses rodent models of autism and sophisticated imaging methods to test the function of brain circuits.
