    About our process

I was scheduled to see Dr Serna. This is not the provider I saw and no explanation was given for changing the doctor.I think there was some sort of miscommunication with the visit. I was there to get a second opinion on an issue but the Doctor thought I had come in for the actual procedure.I feel that the doctor was a bit casual regarding my concerns. I can understand that she deals with a lot of patients in my situation daily but she should also have understood that my particular problem is worrying to me.

I can see why it took so long to get an appointment with this provider she is SO amazing and caring/compassionate about patient care. She definitely listened to my concerns as well as a treatment plan.

What a fantastic doctor. The medical student on rotation with her was also great.

Best bedside manner I have ever experienced from a medical professional!! I get very nervous for medical appointments because of so many bad experiences but she was so fantastic that I genuinely look forward to seeing her again. Never thought I'd say that about a dr visit!

This provide and the one I saw prior to her for my first post partin check up both said so how are you doing with the anxiety/depression? Since they both said it its reasonable to assume this is how UCSF trains their providers to ask postpartum patients this. There's so many things wrong with that statement it's impossible to list them all here. Firstly those are different diagnoses why are they bundled together in the question? Does anyone ever answer that honestly? It can be embarrassing for a new mom to admit they're struggling. Furthermore a person might not even know they're experiencing anxiety and/or depression. With a blunt silly question like that someone might automatically say no. Its as if the providers are looking for the patient to say no vs actually wanting to help someone who is experiencing mental health issues.

The provider should make clear decisions on how of making appointments whether if it's an ultrasound not make me go to the front desk and make me schedule an appointment there she should have gave me a number for the X-ray to make an appointment with them. Three months coming back to this clinic I thought I had an ultrasound appointment she said no so bad experience

She didn't write her after visit summary until two days later and even in the summary there was nothing very helpful.

This experience was exceptional! I was so nervous for my IUD and the whole team eased my mind even brought me food and had the perfect bedside manner. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Tania Basu Serna is absolutely calming thoughtful skilled and warm and I wish I had met her sooner!

She seemed to not have my chart and previously one of my medical health conditions wasn't listed on my chart for the doctor. Not sure what happened there

Provider was very nice and listened to my concerns and problems but could not give me a professional opinion as to what I should do. This seems to be a common practice of UCSF doctorsProvider also didn't see that I had a lab order in place which affects whether I should continue taking a certain medication. Subsequently after I received the lab order blood test results I have yet to hear from the provider in regard to whether or not I should continue taking the medication. I will have to reach out soon.

This provider while friendly and caring does not follow up regarding test results when she says she will and does not respond to MyChart messages in a timely manner (or sometimes doesn't respond at all).

A lot of questions were answered by just sending links to other websites. It would have been a little nicer to talk through some of these answers instead of just telling me to look elsewhere.

The lack of awareness about scheduled appointment times leaves me reluctant to recommend. It has happened on 3/4 of my visits and I feel my time isn't respected.

    Dr. Serna was very thorough

The doctor had not consulted any of my records and since I was seeing her because both my PET scan and MRI recommended follow up with ob gyn and a pelvic ultrasound I was to say the least disappointed in the doctor. She didn't take the time to get to know me or my history - I felt a bit like I was on a conveyor belt. I had some fears and concerns about the tests she recommended and her reassurances were perfunctory at best. I felt like I was being rushed along so she could get to her next patient. This is SO unlike the exceptional and warm treatment I've received from all my other UCSF doctors that I was quite taken aback!
