Tara Morgan

East Coast–raised wildlife photographer and restaurant goer

Dr. Tara Morgan is a radiologist specializing in abdominal imaging and ultrasound. She helped launch a musculoskeletal ultrasound program at UCSF that aims to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions, including those affecting the joints and tendons. She also helps care for fetal surgery patients, including providing imaging guidance in the operating room, and performs endovaginal imaging for pelvic procedures.

Morgan's research investigates new ultrasound techniques, including methods such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound, which can identify diseases in patients who cannot receive CT or MRI scans. She also studies patient outcomes after musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided procedures and fetal imaging.

Morgan received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in diagnostic radiology. She then completed a fellowship in abdominal imaging at UCSF.

Morgan is a member of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, where she created a group to encourage junior radiologists with an interest in ultrasound. She also belongs to the American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, and Society of Abdominal Radiology. She is an avid mountain biker and traveler.
