Nimaljeet (Nimi) Tarango is a nurse practitioner who specializes in cardiac procedures. Her interests include coronary artery disease, electrophysiology, structural heart disease, adult congenital heart disease, heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.

Tarango has participated in research on pulmonary hypertension, ultrasound-assisted cardiac resynchronization therapy (implanting a device to detect and correct heart rhythm irregularities), and the association between heart failure and cognitive impairment.

Tarango earned her undergraduate nursing degree at San Francisco State University and a graduate degree in nursing at UCSF. She is a member of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, American College of Cardiology, American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, Heart Failure Society of America, Pulmonary Hypertension Association, American Geriatrics Society and National Gerontological Nurses Association.

Tarango has received numerous awards, including an excellence in cardiovascular nursing award, PRIDE award and preceptor of the year award from UCSF; an extraordinary nurse award from the DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation; and a Spirit of Nursing Leadership Award from the U.S. Air Force.
