Sarah Holland is a clinical practice nurse for the UCSF Symptom Management Service. Palliative care and oncology nursing are her passions.

Holland earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from New York University. She is a certified hospice and palliative nurse, and also a trainer for the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium, a national project to improve palliative care.

Holland started her nursing career on the hematology and oncology floor at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she first recognized the impact that good symptom management can have on quality of life for patients and their families.

Previously at UCSF, Holland worked as an oncology nurse in the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. She cared for patients in several practices, including genitourinary medical oncology, melanoma, head and neck cancer and surgical oncology.

Holland serves on UCSF's advisory board for palliative care and symptom management nursing. The board focuses on expanding education and practice in these realms at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
