Susan Barbour is a clinical nurse specialist who works with the Palliative Care Service at the Parnassus campus, caring for patients with serious illness. She also helps oversee nursing practice for the Department of Nursing as part of the Institute for Nursing Excellence to advance expert nursing care for seriously ill patients. Previously, her nursing work focused on wound care, continence issues and care of ostomies, which are surgically created openings in the body for the discharge of body wastes.
Barbour earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree as a family nurse practitioner at the UCSF School of Nursing.
Barbour is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association.
