Yiwey Shieh, MD, MAS


Dr. Yiwey Shieh is an internist and epidemiologist.

Shieh is passionate about cancer prevention and screening. His research focuses on using statistical models and genetic analyses to better predict an individual woman's risk of breast cancer as well as the biology of the cancer she may develop. He is also interested in cancer epidemiology ‐ looking at factors such as who is affected and outcomes among various groups. In addition, he studies how to minimize harmful effects associated with screening.

Shieh earned his medical degree from UCSF. He completed a residency in internal medicine and primary care at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a research fellowship at UCSF. He also earned a master of advanced study in clinical research from UCSF.

Shieh is a member of the Society for General Internal Medicine.
