Public Health Benefits
Children with hemophilia are eligible for coverage for medical expenses through California Children's Services and the Genetically Handicapped Persons' Program, depending on family income and other sources of medical insurance. A social worker at the UCSF Hemophilia Treatment Center can refer you to the appropriate program.
Social Security Administration
The Social Security Administration, through the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, provides monthly cash payments to families of severely disabled children. Children with hemophilia may qualify if there are severe complications. More information is available from a social worker at the UCSF Hemophilia Treatment Center or by contacting your local Social Security Administration office.
