Wendy Horton, PharmD, MBA, FACHE

Wendy Horton is senior vice president and president of adult services at UCSF Health. In this role, she oversees adult clinical services and is responsible for advancing performance, access and care delivery in UCSF Health adult services. She also leads strategy, operations and program development on all campuses to improve quality, safety and innovation in patient care.

Horton has more than two decades of clinical and operational experience in academic medicine, and a proven track record of guiding large, complex health systems through growth, transformation and continuous improvement.

Before joining UCSF Health, she served as chief executive officer of the UVA Health University Medical Center, where she maintained and expanded services while leading the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also held senior leadership positions at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, as chief administrative officer, and at UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin.

Horton began her career as a pharmacist. She earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Utah, a master's in business administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
