Jennifer Viner

Nurse practitioner

Jennifer Viner is a nurse practitioner who specializes in caring for patients with cancer that has spread to the central nervous system (brain and spine). She works with her patients throughout the process, from preoperative and postoperative evaluations through follow-up treatments.

In her research, Viner evaluates quality improvement efforts in health care systems as well as quality-of-life outcomes for patients. She is also involved in producing educational publications for patients and nurses-in-training.

Viner earned her master's degree in nursing from the UCSF School of Nursing, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a certified adult nurse practitioner and a certified neuroscience registered nurse. Prior to becoming part of UCSF's neuro-oncology team, she worked in neurosurgery and at the UCSF Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Center. She is an associate member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Viner is an NPIII, a position UCSF awards to a select few nurses who have demonstrated excellence through advanced patient care, education, leadership and service.
