Jennifer Viner, NP

Nurse practitioner

Jennifer Viner is a nurse practitioner who specializes in working with adult patients undergoing surgery for neurological conditions, especially those with brain tumors or hydrocephalus. Viner helps patients throughout the process, from presurgical evaluation through hospitalization and follow-up treatment.

Viner's research focuses on evaluating quality of life for patients with meningioma, a type of brain tumor. She also looks at how to improve patients' hospitalization experience and reduce length of stay, and she assists in producing publications for patient education.

Viner received her master's degree in nursing from the UCSF School of Nursing, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a certified adult nurse practitioner and a certified neuroscience registered nurse.

Viner is an associate member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. She also serves on the San Francisco Neurological Society's board of directors.

Viner is an assistant clinical professor at the UCSF School of Nursing. She is also an NP3, a position UCSF awards to a select few nurses who demonstrate excellence through advanced clinical practice, education, leadership and service.

Following her passion for global volunteerism, Viner has visited underserved communities worldwide to work with patients and provide nursing education. Outside of work, she is a devoted yoga practitioner.
