Paying for Dental Care at UCSF Health

At UCSF Health Dentistry, we are committed to delivering high-quality, personalized dental services. As a fee-for-service practice, we don't contract with dental insurance companies. This allows us to select top-tier materials and design care plans based entirely on your unique needs without limitations from dental insurance companies.

We believe this approach ensures our patients receive the most thorough, attentive treatment possible. Your long-term health and comfort are our top priorities.

What out-of-network care means

Because UCSF Health Dentistry is not contracted with dental insurance plans, our services are considered out of network by dental insurance carriers. This means:

• Our treatment recommendations are based on your health needs and goals and are not restricted by insurance rate caps.
• Fees are due at the time of your visit.
• Depending on your provider and treatment plan, you may still receive out-of-network benefits directly from your insurer.

If you have a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) dental insurance policy, your benefits may cover care at our clinic. We provide help in obtaining the maximum reimbursement under your plan.

Navigating dental insurance

Although we are out of network, our team can help simplify the claims process by:

• Completing claim documents and submitting them on your behalf
• Providing supporting claim documentation, including detailed narratives, diagnostic records and imaging
• Creating estimates to help anticipate out-of-pocket costs

Please note: Final coverage and reimbursement amounts are determined independently by your insurance provider.

Paying for care

Payment for services is due at the time of treatment. We accept the following forms of payment:

• All major credit and debit cards
• Health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs)
• Personal checks
• Cash

For extensive treatment plans, we can structure care in phases and assist with payment planning to help you comfortably manage the costs of care over time.
