The UCSF Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service provides consultations, assessments and treatment for patients experiencing symptoms of mental health conditions while receiving care in our health system.
We offer guidance on psychiatric and psychological care to the emergency department at Parnassus and to teams at Parnassus, Mission Bay or Mount Zion caring for hospitalized adult patients. We evaluate and treat patients with concerning changes in emotions, thinking, memory, behavior and perception, providing these services on the medical, surgical, neurology and obstetrics wards, as well as the intensive care unit at Parnassus. We also help care teams work effectively with patients experiencing mental health crises in the general hospital setting. Consultations are in person at Parnassus, via telemedicine at Mission Bay and Mount Zion, and virtual (as appropriate) for hospitals elsewhere in the UCSF Health system.
The service is available 24/7, 365 days per year. Our regular hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Outside of regular business hours, only requests for urgent and emergent consultations, as determined by our team, will be fulfilled. Providers can page us at (415) 443-1743 to request a consultation.
