About me

Dr. Albert Liu is a cardiac electrophysiologist who cares for patients with arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms) and performs specialized procedures such as cardiac ablation (destroying dysfunctional heart tissue causing arrhythmias) and pacemaker or defibrillator implantation. He has a special interest in managing and extracting the leads of cardiac medical devices and in the ablation of complex arrhythmias. He strongly believes in advancing access to arrhythmia care for underserved populations.

Liu earned his medical degree at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF, where he served as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Northwestern University, in addition to a master's degree in health care quality and patient safety. He also completed a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at UCSF.

Liu is interested in quality improvement and patient safety, particularly in using electronic medical records to streamline care pathways and to improve arrhythmia care outcomes for vulnerable populations. He is also interested in deepening our understanding of the causes of sudden cardiac death and identifying preventable risk factors.

Outside of work, Liu is very active and likes to rock climb, run and bike. He also loves cooking, music and improv comedy.
