About me
Dr. Alejandra de Alba Campomanes is a pediatric ophthalmologist who specializes in strabismus (abnormal eye alignment) and eye conditions such as pediatric cataracts, retinopathy of prematurity (an eye disease affecting some premature babies) and amblyopia (poor vision in one eye). Her expertise in patient care and interests in research include adult and pediatric strabismus, pediatric cataract surgery, botulinum toxin (Botox) to treat strabismus, and retinopathy of prematurity (disorders of the retina).
After earning her medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, de Alba Campomanes completed her transitional year internship at the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at UCSF and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, a teaching affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania. She also has a master of public health degree from the University of Arizona.
At UCSF, de Alba Campomanes holds the Deborah Hoyt and Creig S. Hoyt, MD Chair in Pediatric Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
