About me
Dr. Alexandra Hotca-Cho is a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating digestive system cancers, including esophageal, pancreatic, liver, rectal and anal cancers. She uses advanced techniques – such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy and respiratory gating – to target tumors precisely while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues. Her ultimate goal in every treatment is to maximize effectiveness and reduce side effects.
Hotca's research is dedicated to helping patients feel better during and after radiation therapy. She investigates strategies to decrease side effects from cancer treatment and studies biological markers (measurable signs of the body's condition) that can be used in predicting which patients are more likely to experience certain complications. Her goals are to personalize care, reduce discomfort and support well-being during cancer treatment, and promote long-term health.
Hotca earned her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed a residency in radiation oncology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she served as chief resident.
