About me
Dr. Amanda Twigg is a dermatologist who cares for adults with skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. She also screens for skin cancer and treats patients with a high risk of developing skin cancer, in particular those who have received organ transplants.
In her research, Twigg focuses on teledermatology (harnessing communication technologies to provide dermatologic care), looking in particular at using it to improve access to care in rural areas. She is also interested in the medical education of dermatology residents, improving the delivery of dermatologic care in the Veterans Health Administration and studying actinic keratoses (precancerous skin growths).
Twigg earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in dermatology at UCSF.
Twigg is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is a member of the San Francisco Dermatological Society, Women's Dermatologic Society, International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative and Association of Professors of Dermatology.
In her free time, Twigg enjoys visiting San Francisco's outdoor gems such as Ocean Beach, Lands End and Golden Gate Park, accompanied by her husband, daughter and dog. They like to hike, go whale-watching and bird-watching, and spend time with members of their extended family who live nearby.
