Andreea L. Seritan, MD

Dr. Andreea L. Seritan is a geriatric psychiatrist who specializes in treating patients with movement disorders and associated psychiatric symptoms. In addition to caring for patients and conducting research, Seritan supervises medical students, residents and fellows. She also provides psychiatric care for patients as they prepare for and recover from deep brain stimulation surgery to treat movement disorders.

Seritan's research focuses on understanding the psychiatric and cognitive aspects of fragile X–associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (known as FXTAS) and Parkinson's disease. She was a member of the team at UC Davis that first characterized FXTAS-associated dementia and related psychiatric manifestations for the international medical community.

Seritan earned her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She completed a psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Before joining UCSF, Seritan was a member of the psychiatry and behavioral sciences department at the University of California, Davis, where she also served as associate dean for student wellness.
