Dr. Ann Cai Shah is a pain medicine specialist who is passionate about managing patients’ symptoms while preserving their mental clarity. She serves as director of UCSF’s cancer pain service and founded its clinic focused on interventions for cancer pain.
Shah earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, graduating cum laude. At UCSF, she completed a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain medicine, serving as chief fellow. She completed additional training in treating cancer-related pain at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
