About me

She | Her | Hers

Dr. Ava Wu is an oral medicine specialist. She cares for patients experiencing mouth problems related to Sjӧgren's disease (in which the body attacks its own moisture-producing glands, causing symptoms such as dry mouth). Her goals are to educate her patients about this autoimmune condition and assist in establishing a care team for each that supports them throughout their treatment journeys. She likes to provide compassionate care that centers the patient.

In her research, Wu studies how Sjӧgren's disease develops and ways to manage complications of dry mouth.

Wu earned her doctor of dental surgery degree at UCSF. She completed dental residencies at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center and St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She completed a fellowship at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Wu is an advocate for individuals with Sjӧgren's disease and a former member of the board of directors of the Sjӧgren's Foundation. Outside of work, she enjoys playing tennis, going to the gym and spending time with family.
