About me

Bennett Lareau is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients with a variety of sexual and reproductive health needs. They have a particular interest and expertise in caring for transgender and gender-expansive people, as well as other members of underserved and marginalized communities. Their wide-ranging interests include management of abnormal Pap test results and cervical dysplasia (precancerous cells on the cervix), vulvar issues, menopause care and sexual health concerns. Their approach to care is patient-centered and trauma-informed (rooted in an understanding of the possible influences of an individual's or community's trauma history).

Lareau earned a master's degree in nursing, with a dual emphasis on adult and women's health, from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Lareau enjoys teaching and serves as a volunteer assistant clinical professor at the UCSF School of Nursing, where they have supervised midwifery and nurse practitioner students and been a guest lecturer. They have also presented grand rounds and conference lectures on caring for transgender patients as well as co-authored a book chapter on primary care for this population.
