About me
Dr. Binh Trinh specializes in surgeries of the lung and chest. He cares for patients with various tumors of the chest, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumors and mesothelioma. He also treats noncancerous conditions such as emphysema, hyperhidrosis, diaphragmatic hernia and tracheal stenosis. He is especially interested in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robotics applications.
Trinh's research has explored the role of DNA methylation (a specific change to DNA that affects gene expression) in cancer, early cancer detection, and prognosis for lung and esophageal cancers.
Trinh earned dual degrees from a combined medical and doctoral program at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). He went on to complete his general surgery residency at USC, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at UCSF. He joined the staff at UCSF in 2016.
Trinh is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American Medical Association.
