Dr. Cathy Sun is an ophthalmologist who specializes in caring for adults with glaucoma. She performs a variety of laser procedures and surgeries, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, glaucoma filtering surgery and cataract surgery.

Sun's research focuses on using electronic health records and clinical trials to improve diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and other chronic eye disorders. She has received research funding from the American Glaucoma Society and is currently supported by the National Institutes of Health.

Sun earned her medical degree and completed a residency in ophthalmology at UCSF. She completed a fellowship in glaucoma at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She received a merit award fellowship from the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation.

Sun is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and American Glaucoma Society. In her free time, she enjoys running, gardening and exploring the outdoors.

    I really like Dr Sun - she's very thorough and reviewed all the notes from my previous doctor. But that clinic's too busy!

    The overall scheduling notion for care providers allows them too little time to listen to patients' concerns and answer questions patiently, and as their knowledge clearly qualifies them to do.

    I appreciate the explanations I received about my eyes. I always have my eyes checked every year so I was concerned about why I had not been told I had a problem. I accept the explanation I received. I currently live 50 miles away but I was determined to keep the appointment to check my eyes
