About me

Dr. Chia-Ching Wang, who goes by Jackie, is an oncologist who treats anal cancer. She also provides cancer screenings with high-resolution anoscopy (an examination using an instrument that can be inserted into the anal canal).

Wang's work in research focuses on HIV oncology, particularly HPV-related cancers. (HIV-infected individuals may be at higher risk for developing HPV-related cancers due to their immunosuppression. She hopes to develop and implement prevention strategies, as well as test novel therapies that may improve outcomes for patients with these cancers.) She has also completed studies on lymphoma and Kaposi's sarcoma. She has special interests in superficially invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the anus and in post-treatment surveillance.

Wang received her medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She began a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, but after the first year, she decided to change her focus to HIV-related work. She subsequently completed a research fellowship at the Miriam Hospital, a teaching affiliate of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at Brown University. After working for a year as a hospitalist (a physician dedicated to patient care in the hospital setting), she came to UCSF for a fellowship in hematology and oncology.

Wang is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Medical Association.

I have nothing but good things to say about my care provider. She goes over everything and also answers your questions and concerns right away.

Perhaps she was having a bad day, which as a provider myself, I know can happen. That being said, she had an attitude and seemed annoyed which was not comforting during this sensitive procedure.

Dr Jackie Wang is totally awesome. She is knowledgeable, kind, patient, and always puts me at ease whether I'm fully clothed or during "up close and personal" exams. I can't imagine anyone with better technical and patient skills than hers! I believe she is a true healer. Thank you Dr Jackie! You're the best of the best.
