About me
Deborah Cahn-Weiner is a neuropsychologist who cares for patients with neurological disorders. She specializes in assessing cognition (thinking, learning and other intellectual activities) and emotional functioning (which includes experiencing, reacting to and regulating one's emotions). She evaluates patients with movement and cognitive disorders prior to surgery or other treatments, assesses patients with cognitive problems related to complicated neurological conditions, monitors patients' cognitive function over time, and helps them strategize around returning to work and other activities. Her goal is to ensure the best possible treatment for each patient.
In her research, Cahn-Weiner focuses on how surgical therapies for neurological problems, such as deep brain stimulation, impact cognition and mood. She aims to find ways to minimize the negative side effects of these treatments.
Cahn-Weiner earned a doctorate in clinical psychology at a joint program of San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. She completed fellowships in neuropsychology at both Stanford University and Brown University.
