Dr. Daniel Klufas is a dermatologic surgeon who cares for patients with skin cancer. He is experienced in performing Mohs micrographic surgery (a precise technique for removing cancers while preserving healthy tissue) and other procedures for various types of skin cancer, including melanoma. He is trained in laser and cosmetic techniques, including botulinum toxin (Botox) injections and dermal fillers. His interests include the surgical management of hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes painful bumps.
After earning his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Klufas spent a transitional year at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before completing a residency in dermatology at UCSF, where he served as chief resident. He also completed a fellowship in micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at UCSF.
In addition to his work as a UCSF faculty member, Klufas teaches at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where he serves as medical director of dermatologic surgery and quality improvement director for dermatology.
Outside of work, Klufas likes to spend time with his wife and son by exploring national and local parks and the Bay Area food scene. An avid baseball and tennis fan, he also enjoys fly-fishing in his spare time.
