Dr. Erin Goerlich is a cardiologist who cares for patients with a wide variety of cardiovascular diseases. She specializes in echocardiography (heart ultrasound), including transthoracic (when the sound waveemitting probe is placed on the chest), transesophageal (when the probe is placed in the esophagus to provide clearer heart images) and stress echocardiography (when the patient exercises during the imaging test). She has particular interests in heart valve diseases and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a common heart disease in which the muscle becomes abnormally thick).

Goerlich's research centers broadly on echocardiography for cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and heart problems caused by COVID-19.

Goerlich earned her medical degree at McGovern Medical School, part of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she also completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and advanced cardiovascular imaging.
