Dr. Julia Chandler is a surgeon who cares for patients with breast cancer, always aiming to provide the most up-to-date, proven treatment. She treats all kinds of breast cancer and counsels women who are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer in the future. She performs all kinds of surgery for breast cancer and high-risk breast lesions, including lumpectomy and lymph node surgery. She works closely with plastic surgeons who specialize in breast reconstruction to make sure every patient has the best possible cosmetic outcome.

Chandler's research focuses on understanding how to provide the highest quality breast cancer care to the greatest number of people. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Chandler earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in general surgery and a master's degree in health policy. There, she was recognized with the program's Samuel L. Kountz, MD Humanitarian Award. To gain additional expertise in treating breast cancer, she completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Chandler has a master's degree in education, and before she was a doctor, she was a high school teacher. She is deeply committed to teaching medical students and surgery residents, and was recognized with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award during residency.

When she's not working, Chandler enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.
