Dr. Matthew C. Breeggemann is a nephrologist who cares for patients with kidney disease. He is co-medical director of UCSF's Complex Kidney Stone Clinic, where he treats patients with a variety of kidney stone diseases in collaboration with the department of urology. He also cares for patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte disorders and high blood pressure.

Breeggemann earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he also served an additional year chief resident. He completed a fellowship in nephrology at UCSF.

    This was my first appointment with Dr. Breeggemann. The rating of 5 is not high enough.He is exceptional.Smart, but not condescending, patient, thorough, organizedon and on..and, with a great manner about him, too.I feel blessed to have him as my physician.

    Dr B is amazing. I live 8 to 9 hours away, so he had accommodated every need that I had answered. Every question. He was not in a hurry. We were trying to figure out the best medical outcome for me, and he was 100% thorough answered everything on my questions and I left the conversation very helpful versus despair, so I'm very grateful that he took me on as a patient

    Dr. Breeggemann takes the time to listen to my concerns, take in the relevant information from labs/imagining, and then works with me to establish next steps that I am comfortable with. I appreciate how rare this kind of doctor is in today's medical system and feel really fortunate to have him on my team. I enjoy my appointments with him and never feel as though he is trying to rush me through the appointment.

    Dr. Breegemann was very polite respectful and attentive to my concerns regarding my health. He offered helpful tips on pain medication to reduce likelihood of symptoms recurring. Dr. Breegemann was one the best specialists I've encountered at any of the UCSF clinics so far.
