Dr. Megan Durr is a specialist in ear, nose and throat disorders who cares for patients considering surgery for sleep apnea and snoring. She has special interests in drug-induced sleep endoscopy (a technique to evaluate the upper airway), soft palate surgery, tongue base surgery (reducing the size of the tongue base to relieve snoring) and hypoglossal nerve stimulation implant surgery (a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea). She serves as quality director for the UCSF Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and as chief of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.

In her research, Durr assesses how access to sleep apnea surgery affects patient outcomes and examines outcomes for sleep apnea surgical therapies. She also has a research interest in medical education and has received several teaching awards.

Durr earned her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at UCSF.

In addition to caring for patients, Durr holds national leadership roles in the field of otolaryngology and the practice of sleep apnea surgery. She regularly makes presentations at national and international professional meetings. She is an associate editor for the Laryngoscope journal and has served on the governing board of Women in Otolaryngology, part of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Triological Society.

    I can't say enough good things about Dr Durr!She listens, cares, has good information and if she doesn't know an answer (rarely)Will find out and get back to you. I would definitely recommend Dr Durr to anyone!
