About me
Dr. Mike Cheng is a specialist in internal medicine who provides primary and urgent care for adults.
In research, Cheng focuses on improving the quality of patient care, including through medical education. He enjoys mentoring fellows as director of the internal medicine division's Clinician Educator Fellowship as well as working with residents on projects to enhance care in the clinic as a champion of UCSF's quality improvement program.
Cheng earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago. He completed a fellowship in clinical education at UCSF.

Dr. Cheng's care, as before, was phenomenal. He reviewed not only the problems scheduled for follow up, but also discussed a problem not intended for follow up. He mentioned the question was not frequently asked, yet answered in remarkable detail and specifically how it applied to me. He is most pleasant and easy to communicate with. A remarkable physician.

Dr. Cheng is a phenomenal physician. I have been cared for by a number of San Francisco internists over the last 40 years--Dr. Cheng is without question the most skilled, knowledgeable, and personable. When needed, he shares UpToDate information and the reasoning for his suggestions, answers my questions, and listens to my thoughts. I could not ask for better care.
