I think me being an experienced ICU nurse helps in regard to the information that is given because it's at healthcare provider level and easier to communicate. Not sure how the team is with the lay person.

The surgeon's bedside manner wasn't all that great. I had to ask lots of questions about future treatments and expected outcomes of which the explanations were short, lacking of details and felt like he didn't want to be there.

The visit was not a good use of time. Dr. Kandemir and another person that did not introduce himself asked daughter of patient if dr. Kandemir should examine patient's wound. Neither doctor proceeded to examine the patient. Dr. Kandemir proceeded to ask daughter of patient about her baseline functioning before fracture and current PT. The entire visit lasted less than five minutes that did not involve any examination of the patient. When scheduling the appointment, it was told to us that patient needed to come in to have her stitches removed and have her wound examined to ensure that it is healing properly. If it was up to family member of patient to judge and tell the doctor if the wound is healing, what was the purpose of transporting the patient to the office for less than five minutes of questioning. The person that did not introduce himself showed us the pre and post surgery x-ray, but these had been reviewed with us the day after her surgery at the hospital. Please be more considerate of others' time when requesting patient to come in next time if you have no intention of going near the patient to examine her.
