About me
Dr. Erin D. Gordon is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist who cares for patients with lung conditions that interfere with airflow, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and patients with eosinophilic airway diseases (conditions resulting from certain immune cells accumulating in the respiratory tract), such as nasal polyposis and eosinophilic granulomatosis.
In her research, Gordon studies how immune cells lining the airways interact with the environment, such as when they respond appropriately to germs or inappropriately to harmless allergens. Her lab is particularly interested in understanding what drives asthma and COPD, with the goal of developing new drugs to restore lung health in patients with these conditions.
Gordon earned her medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at UCSF.
