About me

Dr. Farnoosh Nik-Ahd is a urologist who cares for patients with noncancerous urological disorders. She has special interests in treating symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland (a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia), lower urinary tract symptoms, kidney stones and scrotal conditions. She is also interested in providing gender-affirming care.

In research, Nik-Ahd explores topics that include symptoms of and treatments for an enlarged prostate, prostate cancer in minority populations, and the impact of aging and frailty on surgical outcomes. She has conducted large studies on prostate cancer in transgender women, with findings that have influenced national screening guidelines for this population.

Nik-Ahd earned her medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She completed a residency in urology at UCSF.
