Ivy Huang, MD

Dr. Ivy Huang is a colorectal surgeon who cares for patients from diverse backgrounds, helping them on their journey to a cure from colorectal cancer and improved quality of life. She treats a wide spectrum of diseases, including colon, rectal and anal cancer; diverticulitis; anorectal conditions (such as fissures, fistulas, hemorrhoids and warts); inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis); endometriosis involving the colon and rectum; colorectal polyps; pelvic floor disorders; and incontinence. She uses minimally invasive approaches such as robotic and laparoscopic surgery to enhance recovery from surgery. She also performs colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy to screen, diagnose and monitor colorectal conditions. She has a special interest in managing cancer care and transanal surgery.

Huang’s research focuses on quality improvement and enhancing recovery after colorectal surgery, remote monitoring for post-operative care and rectal cancer treatment. She also strives to advance surgical education by developing innovative educational curricula and programs, instructional strategies, and procedural simulations.

Huang earned her medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at UCLA and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She also earned a master of education in the health professions at Johns Hopkins University.

Having grown up in San Jose and trained all over the country, Huang is excited to return to her roots in the Bay Area. Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two sons, supporting local restaurants and shops, going to the farmers market and reading.
