About me
Dina Cehand is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction or related conditions. To help assess muscle function in the rectum and anus, she conducts a number of tests, including anorectal manometry, ultrasound and nerve studies. To help treat her patients' conditions, she also uses biofeedback training, which enables patients to retrain their pelvic floor muscles and better control the muscles involved in defecation and help relieve symptoms related to constipation or fecal incontinence.
After earning a bachelor's degree in nursing from Sonoma State University, Cehand earned a master's degree in nursing at UCSF. She also has certification as a clinical nurse specialist and advanced training as a mental health nurse practitioner.
Cehand has worked at UCSF for 20 years. Her nursing career includes 10 years of caring for patients with heart conditions and patients recovering from heart or lung transplants, and 10 years working at both UCSF and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, during which she cared for patients in treatment for substance use disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, or histories of trauma, as well as those experiencing homelessness.
