About me

Dr. Julia Chandler is a surgeon who cares for patients with breast cancer. She aims to provide the most up-to-date proven treatments for breast cancer and high-risk breast tissue changes. Her procedural expertise includes lumpectomy, nipple-sparing mastectomy and lymph node surgery. She works closely with plastic surgeons who specialize in breast reconstruction to make sure every patient has the best possible cosmetic outcome.

Chandler's research focuses on how to provide the highest quality breast cancer care to the greatest number of people. Also deeply committed to education, she enjoys teaching medical students and surgery residents. She has a master's degree in education, and before becoming a doctor, she was a high school teacher.

Chandler earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in general surgery at Stanford, where she received the program's Samuel L. Kountz, MD Humanitarian Award for her exceptional patient care. She completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She also has a master's degree in health policy from Stanford.

Chandler is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and Society of Surgical Oncology. When not working, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.
