About me
Dr. Laura Deering is a neurologist and neuromuscular specialist who cares for children and young adults with neuromuscular conditions (affecting the nerves and muscles), including muscular dystrophy, myopathy, spinal muscular atrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and myasthenia gravis.
She has particular expertise in performing electromyography - including single fiber studies ¬- to diagnose disorders of the nerves, muscles and neuromuscular junction (the connection between the nerves and muscles). She is particularly interested in collaborating across specialties to support the best quality of life possible for patients.
In her research, Deering focuses on developing new therapies for children with neuromuscular disorders and leukodystrophies.
Deering earned her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medicine. She completed a residency in child neurology and a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at UCSF.
