Dr. Lauren G. Santiesteban is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in caring for patients needing upper extremity surgery, including procedures for the hands, wrists, elbows, arms and shoulders. Her philosophy of care is to treat every patient as unique and to spend time getting to know her patients. She works with them to choose the treatment, whether surgical or nonsurgical, that best suits their needs and goals.

After completing an undergraduate degree with honors at Indiana University, Santiesteban earned her medical degree at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine. She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at NYU Langone Health, followed by a fellowship in hand, elbow and upper extremity surgery at UCSF.

Santiesteban serves as a volunteer and mentor for young learners, working with high school and college students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), including through the Perry Initiative, a program for high school girls interested in pursuing careers in orthopedic surgery or engineering. She has served as a medical brigade volunteer and translator in Guatemala through Timmy Global Health. She has a special interest in diversity in orthopedics and has published studies on the topic.

Again, I just wish she would have apologized for being late. I guess she doesn't look at the appointment times just goes from one appointment to the other? I really appreciated her friendliness and openness. She also was very helpful in getting me to the physical therapist to help me with my brace

Dr. Santiesteban is wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and kind. I feel like she cares about me and I trust her opinions and advice. I can tell she treats her staff well which is important to me. She is also a very skilled surgeon and teacher to the students and residents who sometimes attend our appointments. I am so glad I found her.

I felt the Dr was very thoughtful in her diagnosis and care. I may have misunderstood, and I thought she was going to call after reading the CT results.
