About me
Dr. Lyndly Tamura is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist who provides nonsurgical care for patients with acute or chronic spine pain and patients with musculoskeletal disorders causing pain. To identify problems, alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life, she specializes in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including electromyography, nerve conduction studies, fluoroscopy-guided injections for all parts of the spine, fluoroscopy-guided injections into joints, and ultrasound-guided injections.
In research, Tamura is interested in evaluating the safety and efficacy of treating spinal pain with regenerative medicine (using mechanisms similar to the body's natural processes to replace damaged tissues), reviewing practice patterns for certain spinal treatments, developing novel injection techniques for musculoskeletal and other pain conditions, monitoring the efficacy of tele-nutrition (remote provision of nutrition health care) for patients with spinal cord injuries, and quality improvement projects involving two-way smartphone messaging between doctors and nurses.
Tamura completed her medical degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Stanford University and a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Hudson Medical.
A native of Huntington Beach, California, Tamura was a competitive gymnast during her youth and a collegiate pole-vaulter. She continues to embrace an active lifestyle that includes running, hiking and teaching group exercise. She also enjoys spending time with family, traveling and exploring different cuisines.
